Judy,

Regarding long-term effect of IBM's GMR lead, it's unclear to me at this point. It's still a long way off in terms of Internet time, there's not too many specifics, and there's a good amount of hype.

On the semi eqpmt stocks, when do you think they'll top out short-term? Are you still holding your short-term trading positions? On oil service stocks, I was wondering if you see a tradable short-term rally developing at a certain support level.

Not sure when I'll liquidate my Y2k positions. Still holding Computer Horizons (CHRZ) and Computer Task Group (TSK)...they're modest positions in my portfolio and should keep up with the Y2k sector. Checkpoint Software (CHKPF) has been my largest tech stock holding since 12/31/97. I've put my money where my mouth is, and hopefully things should work out as planned with CHKPF being one of the best stocks of 1998.

Do you know anything about Osicom (FIBR)? I read a lengthy December EE Times article on Wave Division Multiplexing technology, and their WDM product targeted at the metro market seems promising. I would buy the stock, except for my concerns about their short-term liquidity crunch. They don't have much cash and could be forced to issue more stock to stay afloat. Doesn't help that 3 top engineers left and joined Ciena, either.
