I guess, but we've made a lot of bad choices and we're having to pay for it, as a society. One of the costs of 60-100 Billion/year (could well be more than that) in waste fraud & abuse at Medicare/Medicaid is that we don't have the money to take care of everyone.

Medicaid transportation -- I believe we spend in the area of $3 Billion/year (federal) to hire people to drive people to/from doctor's appointments (non-emergency). Now, that isn't a huge portion of total Medicaid, but should we really be doing that? The argument is, "What's the point of having health care if you can't get to/from your appointments?" I just don't know where it ends, and if we think other stuff is more important then someone needs to decide that I suppose.
