Socialization is not a replacement for the family unit that made us great. I'm not following. Primary socialization occurs in the family, which gets first dibs on the kid. One would hope that parents have fostered the value of life. Afterward, the kid integrates input from other sources. Growing up in a gang-ridden or drug-ridden neighborhood or anyplace brutal might reduce his sense of the value of life. So might video games. Or war. But other than that, the kid should be good to go.
