I myself have become disillusioned with both parties and think that George Washington in his farewell address warning that a two party system would become about party and not proper governance was ahead of his time.

That being said prior to the Affordable Care Act I could not cover my oldest child who has Autism with private insurance. He was denied by every insurer in the great state of California and I was told he could not be covered until he reached the age of 12 at the time. That despite all of the conservative talk show hosts claiming anyone can get coverage. That left government only coverage. Once ACA was passed my medical insurer who covers the rest of my family added him and doubled my bill. I didn't complain once and was glad to finally have coverage for him. I don't know what the right answer is to fix the problems with the current system but what would be nice is if our political representatives would for once have an intellectual and vociferous debate and collectively attempt something they hoped would work. Perhaps both parties could start by passing a law that says Congress Shall Enact No Law it exempts itself from. They should end their retirement and enroll in social security so they fix that too for the people that will need it and pay into it.We could go on and on with other areas of absurdity. Government student loans given at outrageous rates to institutions for degrees that will clearly never be able to pay them back shouldn't be given but I digress.
