Fair enough, but the NYT article is all that I have to work with. One of the main reasons I went for engineering instead of science is that I am all about practicality and pragmatism. I don't see much value in reading a book that tells me what I already know (i.e that sugar is bad for me) and has no concrete recommendations as to what to do about it. Granted, not everyone knows about sugar damage. And for those people the book is of value because it gives them knowledge they did not have. But I want solutions.
