Why is the distinction important?

I'll address this by looking at the situation where there is no distinction made. If you don't distinguish human rights for ordinary issues of morality, you either get no recognition of human rights, or you get every moral controversy elevated to a rights issue. I submit that either is sub-optimal.

Abortion: there is no logical answer only a decision to be made by society and I think we should let the women make that decision, not men!

Whether we're talking morality or human rights, however, it's wrong to do harm to other humans. No? Which is why I look at the least harm option given the situation. Sometimes the least harm is abortion.
