They can't decide when they are for government influence or against it. Actually they do very well at that: They are in favor of it when it directly benefits them, and oppose it when it doesn't benefit them and benefits others (less deserving of course!). I see that all the time with farmers around me who get commodity price supports or CRP payments. There actually are some online sources where using zip codes you can find out how much your farmer friends are sucking from the government tit they claim to so despise. Its interesting when you know the neighbors...
