Their opinions are just piped into them from the sewer. And you are right, they will defend them to the death, and they think they actual know something. I see them right here on SI declaring with absolute certainty, say, something scientific, when they are actually completely scientifically illiterate. It's bad enough to wear a badge of ignorance with great pride, but to believe that posting a link (often of complete BS) qualifies them to make profound pronouncements... that is just incredibly sad for our society, for it shows that the age of ignorance is upon us, and they will drown out anybody who actually knows anything. For the ruling class, or those usurping power, the stupider the better. Hence the urgent need to continue to debase education in the US.
