I didn't hear it, but the media has been absurd in taking clearly joking, sarcastic or exaggerated comments and acting as though they were to be taken literally. And the left, in general, is even worse. One of the things that is appealing to the masses is that he talks like an ordinary person, without fake dialects like we see with obama and others. A lot of times he says something that you just have to understand is sarcastic. That is how sarcasm works.
