I have never heard of such a thing as you describe. You might as well have told me that my skin is green and I have six arms for all I recognize what you wrote. What, you are libertarian (small l!) who doesn't pay attention to what other libertarians do? Some suggested reading topics: Irving Kristol (he got the ball rolling with his "brilliant" idea that conservatives should conduct "research" to intellectually buttress their ideological leanings. For some reason, it entirely failed to register with him that real research leads you to conclusions, not the other way around). Cato Institute, AEI, Heartland Institute, etc. These are the fruits of Kristol's brilliant idea. Google those names with tobacco cancer or climate change. Steven Milloy (eventually he was too much for even the Cato Institute to stomach!) George C Marshall Institute, and the former head of the US Academy of Science, one Frederick Seitz One Phillip Johnson, the Wedge Document, and the Discovery Institute. All of the above are related, as is the general neocons of which Kristol was the patron saint. Their primary ideological basis was libertarian/ayn rand, etc. They started society down the slope of which Trump is the final result, that lying to yourself is fine, and lying to others all in a good cause, in order to achieve the end result they sought (a libertarian society) would somehow work out fine. Oops, believing lies doesn't work well... But please do note, all the lying was done because, God damn it we can't have society impose "correct" answers on us, we know there are not any such things. Instead of just saying, we want the liberty to do stupid things, they set about trying to prove that the stupid things weren't stupid. Therefore smoking didn't cause cancer, burning fossil fuels isn't warming the global, evolutionists are teaching our kids crap, etc. I could respect them if they instead said, 1) Yes we know smoking causes cancer, but people should be free to do that to themselves, BUT we will support laws that limit the damage those people do to other people. 2) Yes, burning fossil fuels is warming the globe, and yes it will have impact on others, therefore here are our strategies for responsible behavior while trying to preserve economic growth and "freedom" 3) Yes, we know evolution fits the evidence, but for religious reasons we want to isolate our kids from reality and keep them brainwashed. Please respect our right to do so. But that is not what libertarians have done. Instead, they have tried to champion these various causes by a web of deceit.
