There is no crisis. There is no reason the cap can't or shouldn't be raised. When my wife and I earned $600K last year, and only paid SS on $118.5K of it, it became quite clear how the super-rich can easily support SS for poorer people forever, just by raising the cap when necessary.

If the super rich have to forego some disposable luxury item to keep poor seniors from having to eat cat food, there shouldn't be any hesitation on their part to do that.
