I will not tolerate any racism, overt or covert, even from family. And when I see the African-American get fair treatment and is finally relaxed, then I will become relaxed OK. There's still work to do. But the discussion was based on this point of yours: "I could see us moving back towards institutionalized segregation of one form or another. " How do you see us getting there from here? What's different now that would portend such a drastic change?

"When and where did you last visit the South?" Because I'm not sure where you are finding these southerners who have this state of mind. From time to time I'm present in just about every southern state and I have to tell you, I haven't seen it. So, I'd like to know exactly where you are seeing it.
