Thanks for the response David, I also look at turnarounds in that light, considering the upside and looking at the amount of time the company might take to go bankrupt (always must be considered as the worst case scenario, especially when getting a 'screaming bargain'). If the answer is 'not anytime soon', then risk is much reduced.

I guess one of my concerns is simply that the company is a small one with products that aren't really industry leaders (in spite of critical acclaim). Why not buy comparable stuff from Symantec etc.?

I believe SWEBF (recommended by someone else on the 1998 High Growth Techs thread) is comparable to TSSW. Both have similar chances at turnarounds, cheap stock price, good products, and strong balance sheets. Would make a good comparative study.
