society has descended into a silver spoon caste model
meritocracy is only in play for those that have, not those
based on experience or knowledge

outliers exist everywhere and your description is far off from
reality which doesn''t make it much of an outlier at all, horrifying
isn't it.

"Kids rarely take that sort of advice. We were horrified one day when my Mother told us it was just as easy to marry someone wealthy and to marry someone poor. But there's still a natural sorting. Smart people rarely marry unintelligent people.

Our society is enough of a meritocracy that people tend to end up closer to where they belong based on merit regardless of where they start. Kids smarter and more ambitious than their families end up with a much better life than how they grew up. Dull unambitious kids with a trust fund mix with others like them until the money runs out"
