Look to China as "keeping up the appearancies". The boom is over but there is a big interest an keeping the facade that this is 2004 China.

No it is not. As China grew and hit the head on the ceiling they want to keep the west China gazing and marveling at their progress. It is good for their ego but the reality is China is returning to its natural size.

The more they spend to keep up the appearancies the worse the situation
