Of course you have to deal within Canadian guns laws, quite different than those here in VT.
(I also thought my property at the northern tip of Cape Breton would be my place of last resort!!(g).)

Maybe I watch too many nasty movies but I get the feeling that if the SHTF, the police are not going to be protecting or serving. They will group and act on instinct and needs. If they meet their needs, they will move to wants. Once this happens we are better off far from the cities.

I shoot in a local combat league. Half the shooters are LEO. Half of that half are not the folks you'd invited to your bug out location. I may be exaggerating the #'s a bit. But the bottom line is that you must be prepared to take care of yourself.

Having enough people to defend a location, and being able to feed them all is a whole nuther story.
