I think your appraisal is correct, deadly diseases should permit more aggressive treatments with greater risk if necessary.I'm not sure any specific criteria exists to equate medical conditions with medical therapy in a generalized way. FDA policy should consider each proposed therapy against a background where patient population, age, specifics of illness to be treated and overall life expectancy without intervention is weighed.
Since, this condition is not itself life threatening the proposed therapy should be relatively safe. This is a fairly universal medical concept shared by most physicians. Viagra's position in all this is yet to be determined.
