Before he picked his Cabinet I had a bit more hope. Much less so now. The one thing I will say is that his meddling jawboning of individual companies might well produce some results, and is only something that a Republican who threw out the rule book could get away with. I can only imagine the howls if Obama had tried the same approach. Most normal Republican Presidents would also have been met with howls for trying it. But he will not provide leadership either on the world stage or for that matter on important long term issues in the USA either, and he will display lots of petty vindictiveness which will be quite destructive.
