Alexa,

We basically agree. But before this legislation was force-fed to us, there were smoking and nonsmoking restaurants and bars. As a smoker, I may have been more aware of this natural balance in the free market. And this is as it should be--business owners and potential patrons having free choice.

This rabid anti-smoking sentiment can indeed encroach upon the private home. When a tradesperson comes to one's private home, the home then becomes a workplace for that tradesperson. In such cases, I have always willingly refrained from smoking. However, some people do not want to be exposed even to residual smoke. Carried to that extreme, I would be barred from ever smoking in my own home or learn to do my own plumbing, electrical work, etc. What say you to that?

And please, don't EVEN get me started on the health factors! You wouldn't like what I would have to say. <vbg>

Holly

But Alexa, this particular law makes no allowance for the rationality of the owners of the establishments - it is strictly a "Thou Shalt/Not" from the gummint.

Deliver me from zealots, regardless of their complaint...
