David,

FWIW
I thought that only happened at auto dealer's shops. :=)
But now they can use embedded processers for an alibi.
I don't plan to buy a new van until guaranteed year 2000 compliant.
Have a friend who is super salesman at one of big auto dealerships. He doesn't know what year 2000 compliance means, Yet. Says they never, never give the salesmen any of the bad news. As matter of fact, Sales Dept usually doesn't know a recall is happening until the customers start coming in to complain about it.
Glad I checked beforehand on my recent computer purchase.
It luckily turned out that the model I wanted had received the green flag, but I had to check with the Tech dept on it's web site to find out for sure BEFORE I bought it. The sales clerk was dumb on this point. Even at that, I performed a year 2000 check to be doubly sure.

Best Regards,

Gerry

They are doing it! Win98 to fix bugs of Win95, Word 7 or so to improve Word 6. Versions are not downward-compatible. Ram
