Sanders had a golden opportunity to defeat Trump, but the Democrats, led by Clinton and Obama had other ideas. They did their best to rig the whole primary process against Bernie Sanders. Sadly, they succeeded. This is not to say that Sanders did not have issues. Clearly, he had problems persuading African Americans to vote for him during the primaries. But he was up against President Obama who endorsed Hillary Clinton. Trump won because Hillary Clinton could not energize the Left wing of the Party to vote for her. The nomination of Tim Kaine as VP was pathetic. Yes, now the Democrats have a fight within their own party for its heart and soul. Picking another centrist will only lead to an bigger Trump victory in 2020.
