Anyone interested in getting emailed a copy of today's H&Q Telecom Equipment Sector report can email me (take out the "_pam_" - which becomes @brains.bic.uci.edu - from my spamified email address). You need to have both uudecode and pdf (Adobe reader) capabilities. Eudora (and others) can do this.

Check out Tucows: tucows.phx.cox.com

==============

First two paragraph teaser:

For the December 1997 quarter we are expecting the companies within the H&Q Telecommunications Equipment/Technologies and Telecommunications Services universes to report strong earnings, with the vast majority of companies either meeting or beating estimates. While we believe results within the equipment/technologies sector will be strong on an overall basis, we believe that upsides will be much more moderate than those we have seen in past periods.

We are expecting quite a different reporting period relative to the telecommunications services companies that we are currently tracking at H&Q. Our emphasis within the telecommunications services business is to track the fast-growing set of innovative carriers, particularly those with strong services and technological niches. We are expecting this group of companies to report very strong revenue growth and strong earnings. However, we expect many of these companies to spend their upside on further build-out of network capabilities, rather than
dropping the upsides directly to the bottom lines. We continue to be very excited about the prospects for this class of carriers and fully expect these bright prospects to be reflected in higher stock prices for this group in 1998, even though most of these stocks are up significantly thus far in 1997.

steve--

as usual, you miss the point...

>>The telco delays don't help any either as it gives time for companies like CSCO, ASND and Netspeed (that Trey refers to as vaporware) to get a product out. <<

TO GET PRODUCT OUT being the operative phrase. meaning, there is no product yet. it hasnt stopped them from announcing it though.

i dont know about you, but where i live, thats called vaporware.

good luck to all,
trey
