Betty - Re: "CPQ will be able to utilize Pentium chips in their sub 1000 machines .."

Compaq has been offering Intel-based PCs for <$999 for several months and just last week announced their Presario 4212ES for $699, which uses an Intel Pentium MMX 166 Mhz.

And today, HP announced a Pentium MMX 200 MHz for $799.

Intel is able to make money at these levels and is "open for business".
