My post was in response to Tim complaining about the travel bans. At least I think he was complaining.

I've noticed that staunch conservatives who function in cosmopolitan environments are somewhat different from those in flyover country. Tainted, I guess. <g>

Lane was right that I knew about Trumps' general position on trade before the election. I disagree with him but it was not a surprise.

As for the travel ban, I expected restrictions that I would disagree with. I didn't expect them to happen quite so quickly, and more importantly I didn't expect an application of them to people who had already been given permission to be here and had been here, even as permanent residents, in some case for some time, before being held up trying to re-enter. I would have expected something more along the lines of new applications for visas to be delayed or denied for new immigrants and visitors. In this case Trump disappointed me despite my low expectations for him.
