Steve, Re: "Intel's big advantage is the x86 technology ..." This is incorrect Steve ... Intel's big advantages are their process development capabilities and high volume, low cost manufacturing. The reason AMD is not a threat is because of these two things ... not X86 technology??!! Intel has a generation lead in technology over AMD and two generations over Cyrix/NSM. This will always allow Intel to be sole supplier of high margin CPU's for workstations and servers ... while with their low cost manufacturing, they will easily compete against Cyrix and AMD for the low margin home desktops.
