I agree that the democrats have to confront their demons and exorcise them to beat Trump in 2020. If they don't do so, they will lose in a landslide. However, I wouldn't underestimate the power of the Left. There were many, like myself, who voted for Hillary over Trump, but disliked her immensely and didn't respect her. I know you don't respect that attitude and I have to live with the fact that I voted for a bad person in many ways. Let's see who steps up if it's the same old war mongering guard or a fresh new face that moves the DNC to the Left. I can't be as pessimistic as you - though you may end up being right. Just remember Trump won in spite of being opposed by the RNC and whole Republican establishment. The same thing can happen on the Dem side. And I don't think many Dem voters are as reactionary as you think.
