Pretty much exactly what mud said.

I tend to look for value investing plays since my CUU lesson. Independent to Mud's strategy I was watching IVN for a while, when it started trading at a discount to cash (ie. all 3 properties were free under $1) I found ways to get the capital needed to invest in it. Ended up borrowing a big chunk of change (not something I would suggest to others) and became heavily leveraged in it. My initial target to take money off the table was the $2 range, but as the market changed (and copper, among other things became less gloomy) I upped my targets to the $4-5+ range. I have a small trading position in IVN but the main chunk is an investment with a long term goal (IVN becoming a producer with a market cap similar to FM). I use canadabulls.com a bit to look at the technicals for my trading position but it doesn't affect my overall investment strategy. I took a bit off the table (ie. liquidated the trading position) at just over $4 ($4.07 I believe) to pay off the debts and deleverage myself but the main reason for that was I saw the technicals being extremely overbought and a few people mentioned taking money off the table (ie. brent cook at VRIC) so I took all that info and made a decision. In any case I'm still very heavily weighted in IVN and believe in the story but the higher it goes the more money I technically have at risk so always good to take profits (something I didn't do with CUU).

In any case no technical analysis is perfect and anyone who said they sold at the absolute top of the market is BSing you. At 4.36 I wasn't eyeing a sell, I look for the momentum to turn around before I take profits so I can never truly sell at the top but also get to partake in further gains if the momentum continues for long periods of time.

In any case like Mud these are just my opinions of an ever evolving investment strategy over time. I'm sure there will be more CUU type lessons in the future and hope they don't burn me too much but also teach me more valuable/important lessons.

Best of luck to everyone, seems like we have a great group going here with lots of valuable information.

Cheers,
