Thanks for correcting that error... I've noticed that Compaq is offering your choice INTC, or AMD

Compaq has been using Intel chips in Sub-1000 PCs for months. 4504 and 4505 models for $999.
Now they use the 166MMX in a $699 computer.

bp,

I ... thought that the sub 1000 machines only used AMD or Cyrix chips...If Intel surprises I would change my short term bearish sstance market-wise and would look to technology to resume it's leadership.

How much difference is it going to make to the tech sector as a whole if CPQ buys from AMD or Cyrix instead of Intel? PC sold is a PC sold. And chip sold is a chip sold.

It seems that your indicators are somewhat suspect.
