That sounds reasonable, IMO. Manufacturers doesn't usually manufacture their own production equipment, and things have to work right during production time. They must be accustomed to bringing in outside teams to speed major repairs, assessments, replacements and such. But information systems have never "worked right." Because the technology is moving so fast, and because they don't have to get product out the door, MIS departments are always playing short-handed catch-up. Y2K is just the latest in an unending stream of MIS nightmares...
