Craig, thanks for the link. From Litton's web page,

<<< Litton, founded in 1953 as a small electronics company, has evolved into a $4.2 billion company focused in defense and commercial electronics, information technology and shipbuilding. Litton is a leader in high technology world markets for navigation, guidance and control, electronic warfare and command, control and communications systems and information technology. It is a primary builder of large
multi-mission surface combatant ships for the U.S. Navy and a major provider of overhaul, repair, modernization, ship design and engineering services. Principal operations are located throughout the U.S. and in Germany, Canada and Italy. As of the end of our fiscal year, the work force was approximately 31,500 employees. >>>>

My impression of Litton is that it provides high tech solution to the military. One example is it packages hardware/software together to allow military personnel to run 'war games'. In a real combat situation, these 'war games' could become real 'command and control' executing in real time. If nothing else, Litton has 4.2 billion in sales and Ancor should be happy to rub shoulders with them.<g>

Craig-

This is the second military program to select FC as a technology for an update program for a real time command and control system. Also the second integrator to select Ancor. In the 80's the DOD spent a lot of money developing propritary Mil Spec systems and equipment for Command, Control and Communications applications for areas such as Avionics, Surface, Underseas, Battlefield Mmanagement, and "Special Programs". These systems are ready for an upgrade and with the push to COTS equipment this might turn out to be an interesting niche for class 1 implementations. It certainly is an area no one else in the FC industry seems to be prusuing (relative to switching). One thing for sure, the Marines that use this system have a lot more at stake than corporate MIS people.

And we still haven't gotten to the storage stuff yet <g> .
