That's a very good point. His argument was that Hillary would have made a better President than Trump. The improvement, however, would have only been marginal at best. I suppose he did not want to alienate the DNC even more than it already was towards him.
Sanders already had a leg outside the Party. I suppose he didn't want to put both legs outside the Party. In a way, I don't blame him. He already knew Hillary wasn't qualified to be President and said so. There are a lot of Party Hacks who are open to Sanders, but don't want to see him burn bridges. You think Sanders should have made a clean break? Why not use the Party like Trump did to suit yourself? No harm in that, especially if you win the nomination.

I know there were pissed Bernie supporters, but either he could endorse Clinton after she promised to take on part of his platform and thereby lose some votes and make Trump winning a bit more likely (remember, just three states tipped the balance), or he could completely withhold support to guarantee a Trump victory.

By the way, I don't think anybody commented this though wherever I posted it earlier, but here's another take on what could be a false flag event to set the table for a much more aggressive plan later.

If that isn't true, then the only other possibility is that T and his team are incredibly incompetent. His fans insist he is brilliant in every respect, so either they are really messed up in the head, or it's almost certainly the headfake scenario.

I recall Heinz Blasnik saying a few years ago that the end game of *most* democracies is authoritarian rule, usually following the wide spread corruption, incompetence, and kleptocracy phase. So having such a person emerge now would be historically predictable, and a huge segment of the population greasing the skids would also be historically common.
