Now THAT's funny! Licorice in sufficient quantities is harmful to the heart! Cardiac patients are instructed to avoid licorice.

Now that you mention it I think I've heard that--but you have to eat an awful lot. Persimmons, after all, can give you hairballs. I remember reading a hilarious letter from a woman to a newspaper medical column in which she claimed to think it was unfair that she'd got one as she never ate more than 15 or 20 a day...
