Charles, absent and direct news, the media wouldn't have a clue as to why it's down. For an explanation, they'd ask the company or an analyst who covers it. Both would be likely to attribute the decline to extraneous factors, noting that "nothing has changed" (they'd be right in that nothing has changed; it's still ridiculously overvalued). They'll get around to valuation as a reason eventually.

Barb!, is a 5% decline on 1.65mm shares any help in the TA department? Where is that trendline?

Bob

Who cares?! The downward momentum will feed on itself, regardless of attribution.

In hindsight it appears there was a lot of short covering last month for tax loss purposes. I imagine now shorts are re-entering and longs who deferred to 1998 are also selling for a double whammy! Pure speculation, WDIK!

E*Trade seemed to do ok with its earnings numbers, I wonder why the press didn't mention that.
