Great Minds...
A few months ago I wrote in this space that PC-TV enthusiasts should forget WebTV and just hook up their old PCs in the living room with a scan converter and infrared keyboard. RF-Link Technology has packaged this concept into a neat box, with a twist. The Wireless PC@TV ($599) doesn't require a second PC in the living room. Instead, a radio-frequency remote sends Windows PC data directly to your living room and back via the wireless keyboard. It works through walls and ceilings up to 100 feet. The price is cheap when you consider that the WebTV box requires a monthly service fee in addition to your regular internet provider and doesn't have nearly as much capability. With a DVD-ROM drive and MPEG 2 decoder board in your computer, the Wireless PC@TV even lets you watch movies on your TV, eliminating the need to buy a DVD-V player.
