Mr Mark Roberts reports
Westrend has entered into an agreement dated August 7 1997 to purchase an additional 23.5% of the issued and outstanding units of Taylor Rigs, LLC, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, increasing its potential interest in Taylor Rigs to a maximum of 75.5%. Taylor Rigs is a service/drilling rig manufacturer catering to the oil and gas industry, both domestic and internationally. This agreement provides for a total purchase price of US$400,000 and the issuance of 200,000 shares of Westrend at $0.28. Westrend has paid the vending unitholder, Taylor International, US$60,000 of the purchase price, and immediately received 3.5% of the units. Westrend is obligated to pay a further US$200,000 of the purchase price to the vendor within 60 days from the date of the agreement and will immediately receive a pro-rata proportion of the units purchased. Westrend is further obligated to pay the balance of the purchase price within 90 days from the date of the agreement and will immediately receive the balance of the units.
Mr W.J. Taylor has resigned from the board of directors and his employment agreement has been terminated. Westrend, its subsidiaries (Precision Horizontal and Alamo Logging Service, which will soon be a full subsidiary), and Taylor Rigs (of which Westrend currently owns 45.83%, and has the right to acquire up to 72.5%) have booked gross sales from August 1 to August 16 of US$1,281,000.

Read that last sentence again. What's going on? Have they been on vacation since Aug.16th ? I wonder why Mr. Taylor really retired? Yeah, I can hear it now, "uh, we left the revenues for Taylor rigs out of the financials.
