i said shun them, not attack them. Doing anything to the Dome of the Rock would make it impossible for any Islamic leader to deal with Israel. All out war to the knife. You cannot destroy it. I don't know about that. There were probably some very nice Muslim monuments in Spain when the Muslims conquered it in 1,200 or whenever it was. They were probably all destroyed when Spain got it back. Muslims today are fine with Spain. Time heals lotsa wounds. Remove the Muslims from Israel and the West Bank, build the wall, and there's a reasonable chance 100 years from now you can remove the wall. Maybe earlier, who knows? But the current arrangement - Israelis try to get the Pals to accept a Jewish nation, the Pals say "we gotta be able to live in Israel proper", and then fight off and on for years and years, is unlikely to ever resolve. You don't NEED to destroy the Dome of the Rock. That just sort of made sense in order to establish the Muslim/Arab defeat and the idea that the Muslims aren't coming back as rulers. If Israel wants to be a Jewish nation in a historically Jewish homeland for the Jews, I don't see a problem with destroying an earlier conqueror's monument. The Muslims know they captured Jerusalem from someone years ago, they can deal with the fact that it has been taken away. Christians and Catholics accept that we don't control the Holy Land, Muslims may get there some day. Removing the monuments will make it easier. Isn't ISIS destroying Roman monuments in Syria? The Muslims know that that is what you do when you win. Not doing it makes it harder for them to give up. And having them sit there side by side with opposing goals makes no sense. The Pals have had 70 years to concede defeat, they haven't, so OK, impose a unilateral victory on them. Makes sense to me. Anyway, destroying the Rock wasn't the key part of the peace through victory plan, it was more of a side note. Winners pillage, losers move elsewhere, and stateless squatting refugees riot.
