But the thing is, WHY do the likes of the Syrians, or Somalis, or Ethiopians, or Libyans, etc, etc.., allow themselves to get to the stage where they are ruled over by a despot or quasi-dictator in the first place ?? Why didn't they do as much as they personally could to have obtained some reasonable level of education so that they would have been able to better understand the rhetoric and modus operandi and nature of a despot or quasi-dictator ? To have better acquainted themselves with some basic background in the history of similar events that have taken place in other parts of the world over past decades ? If you are better equipped to understand and comprehend such matters, then you start confronting it at the beginning. And you do something definite and constructive about it. You collectively combine to cut off the head of the snake before it grows into a gigantic effing Anaconda. Yes, even if that means you have to lay your lives down on the line like thousands of French and Dutch and Polish and other Western and Eastern European citizens were prepared to do in the 1940's, and at other times in history. But No ... you just sit back and continue to swallow the crap that is dished out to you until it's too late ... And then ??? Ohhh ... then you pack your meager belongings that you have left and you transport your problems and place it at the doorstep of a better managed, better educated, more affluent society and expect them to provide you with a stable environment in which you can now conduct your life with your often vastly different culture and beliefs, under that convenient label of "Refugee". When the indigenous Americans of George Washington's time no longer wished to be under the rule and domination of the king of England, they collectively got off their rear ends and did something constructive about it. And unfortunately many lost their lives in the process. But for the Americans that was the price you had to pay, and the sacrifice that you had to make for a VERY WORTHY end goal. They didn't put their tails between their legs and head for somewhere else with the label "Refugee" hanging around their necks ..... More often than not, a despot or quasi-dictator, with his relatively small band of sycophants, can only survive because he has a military shield between himself and the vast population. But the members of that military shield are usually the sons and daughters of that population. So maybe the fathers and mothers of those individuals should take their offspring by the scruffs of their necks and clearly remind them who they are persecuting and who they are protecting .....
