I'm afraid that's an incredibly insightful commentary. Kushner and Ivanka are an incredibly moderating influence on Trump and his coterie of former child delinquents with learning disabilities.

As for the National Security Council, the problem is not that Steve Bannon attends these meetings. The problem is Steve Bannon replaced the head of the US military, the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs at these National Security Council meetings.

The National Security Council has now become an echo chamber of Trumpistas discussing military situations without the moderating influence of the head of the military giving them the real world limitations on what the military can and can't do, and what option might be better.

Yes there's Trump's retired military on the Council, but that would be like replacing the CEO of Chevron from an oil and gas planning meeting with myself. My understanding of Chevron is dated and necessarily second-hand.

It's little wonder the military has been highlighting problems with Trump's decisions, like making the 5-Star Iraqi General available for TV interviews about how he was no longer able to enter the US to visit his wife and children and attend the monthly strategy meetings in Tampa Florida due to Trump's travel ban.

Trump's level of contempt for the military is what finally took down Senator Joe McCarthy when he began bullying the military.

6:05am, in HK office, at diligence, and the working year starts in earnest

Next respite in April, or starts at lunch time this day

As to <<was it you who mentioned that Trump tends to make decisions based on the last person he listens>>

... may have posted an article that mentions the point; certainly does not surprise.

otoh, one could say that the real trump should shine through even more obviously than already, in good and short time, that he bullies, lies, grabs, breaks things, reneges on words, handshake no-good, makes plenty of wrong decisions and doubles down, plows through, doesn't give an eff, etc etc, and is volatile, and surrounded by negligence incompetents, or otherwise plain bad actors

and that he would not mess up only if by accident or luck, is guaranteed to fail unless has definitive sub-group of actually wise advisors whom he listens to and obeys >75% of the time - am unaware of such advisor. the truth that he is potus speaks to the factual state of his electorates, competition, and detractors, only.

otoh one might say, trump shall break that which must be broken, and that in itself by itself is a good and necessary pre-condition to genuine change.

watch & brief, who can know? certainly not the ones who did not see trump coming.

some of trump-ism is actually refreshingly commendable, and okay by my book. some of it is just balderdash. so thaen it shall all come down to what the man actually manages to accomplish.

he is entertaining, a good thing, everything else being equal.

mentioned before, that he reminds me of some i had worked w/ in the past, and the mindset to be entertained is very important

my neighbour friend had at one point advised trump during one of his bankruptcy workings, and adds that the guy does not do his own reading

if so, then america has put in place an agent of change who is putting in place minions of change

good or bad is unknown, but change for sure, lasting or not
