The math of it is:

Say we have the curve expressed by:

y = mx + b

y is sea level
x is time
b is the starting sea level
m is the slope of the sea level rise over time

Subtract mx from that equation (or set m to 0) and you end up with no sea level rise!

y = mx + b = 0*x + b = b

It's so easy!
