Hi Denis-- yes, those Ashton AB diamond counts you drew attention to are intriguing. Good eye. But as you've just said, it's early to be comparing, but nonetheless remarkable. On that very topic... Today I was comparing stone counts here (ACA BH) to the Lexam find in Greenland-- They did a bulk sampling to end up w/ 792kg, and found only 41 stones, with 16 being macros (but macro measured as >.5mm in one direction only!). These kinds of figures have turned some heads there (eg., Aber etc) in Greenland, it seems (-also, location logistically accessible there). -Now look at Ashton's counts in Alberta thus far- For discussion only, I'll post some of the Ashton-- Merlin (a mine Ashton Australia is bringing into production in Austr.) & Alberta figures here (for stone counts, as Denis brought up--thanx!): (Note that these are not nec.equitable comparisons! Please feel free to comment) From K91 first hole 102.6stones/ t (>.5mm, two direction) From K14C single hole: 1,056stones/t (>.5mmX2) From K14 first sample (June/97-- 204.1kg): 58.8 stones/t (>.5mmX2) - - more - - - From K14 minibulk: 36.6ct/100t; (>.8mmX2) #stones unknown From Merlin minibulk: 48.445c/100t; 12.25stones/tonne (>.8mmX2) From Merlin Bulk: 52.9c/100t; 5.51stones/t; adj.avg value= U$56-/ct - - - - - - In ct/tonne: *K14 minibulk avg 36.6ct/100t(stones>.8mmX2)--only ONE pipe(7hole; 8t) Merlin minibulk avg. 48.5ct/100t(stone>.8mmX2)--4 pipes(19hole; 130t) Merlin bulk average = 52.9ct/100t(size"?)-- 4 pipes(5,263t processed); _adj.avg value= U$56-/ct ______________ *K14 too small for valid conclusion - - - - - - Any thoughts? WAY too soon to even try this, I know! For entertainment only!! Thanx again for drawing attention to this, Denis! ___________________ Re. AB mining cost advantage-- MAJOR bonus if we prove up an economic pipe or 2! Changes the formula for a profitable mine! Regards, -j :> PS- Ashton website: ashton.net.au
