Last week, Nordstrom said it was dropping Ivanka Trump’s clothing and shoe line as part of an annual pruning of products that aren’t selling well. Now, President Trump is lashing out at the department store giant for its decision.

In a tweet Wednesday morning, the president said, “My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”

The president’s reproach of Nordstrom comes as a growing slate of retailers appear to be backing away from the Ivanka Trump brand. Neiman Marcus is no longer carrying fine jewelry from the label on its website, while HSN and Belk also no longer feature Ivanka Trump clothes and accessories online.

A campaign called Grab Your Wallet has been urging shoppers to boycott retailers and other companies connected with the Trump family business empire. The campaign encourages consumers to stay away from retailers that carry Ivanka Trump products as well as businesses such as Trump wineries and golf courses.

Ivanka Trump said in January that she planned to step away from management and operations duties at her eponymous lifestyle brand, as well as at the Trump Organization, when her father became president.

But the president’s social media missive is likely to become fodder in a simmering debate about how the Trump family has chosen to handle their business interests during Donald Trump’s time in office. Ethics experts have suggested that President Trump should have fully divested his stake in the Trump Organization; instead he turned the reins of his company over to his adult sons. Ivanka Trump’s team was forced to rethink its marketing policiesafter an employee sent an e-mail blast talking up a pricey bracelet that the president’s daughter wore during an appearance on “60 Minutes.”

This is not the first time a major player in corporate America has found itself in the crosshairs of a Trump tweet. The president has also taken to social media to criticize General Motors for making cars overseas, and, before his inauguration, suggested that an order from Boeing for a new Air Force One jet should be canceled because of its costs.
