Trufflette,
I have not seen the text of the warnings announcement but I am sure they will claim that it does. IMHO I think that the real problem is the transition to MR and GMR that is occuring and proceeding at an uneven pace and that RdRt will get a big bounce in 98 when the dust settles on this transistion. This company is positioned to be the outsource for the entire DD industry on MR. Time will tell and when we get the SeaGate announcement this stock will recover. I think they are clearing the decks for this announcement. Get all the bad news out. I wish they had done this in December. The Market reaction will tell if Seagate is near or far. I hope near and that this explains the timing.

DrRisk would accumulate on any major dips

Trufflette,
<<but does the Asia slowdown play any part in this earnings shortfall?>>

IMO not for Read-Rite so far. Order cancellations etc,. are related to overbullish orders from their customers. Thats not to say it wont account for earnings problems in the future. Asia will definitely be spending less on PCs for example whah may have an effect on order etc. But so far the disk drive sector malaise is fairly independent of the Asia problems.
Best,
Stitch
