What are the chances that Mr. Hovnanian will want to build and run a LMDS business? Is it possible that he will want to sell-out to the highest bidder and limit himself to running CTC, the privately-held technology company?

Insiders own 70 percent of the stock in CVUS. If they want to sell out, they have the votes to do it without public shareholder consent.

Bernard,
I find your observations very interesting. Other then the video, and sports events on demand what do you suggest CVUS do in addition to their announced plans? What difficulties do you see at this point? One that I see for conference calls is the lack of a national LMDS system reducing the quality of the conference calls. This would reduce the appeal of LMDS to companies for that particular service. Would this lack of a national system also hurt the T3 like connection to other offices around the country?

Also the great big futurist question always in the back of my mind. Do you see a future where telephone and cable lines are obsolete due to economic and enviromental pressures? (Wireless replaces land lines.)

Re: extremely complex and require large engineering teams to look at different aspects of the system.

Bernard,

Since Bossard has been working on LMDS for 10 years, perhaps he may
have a few tricks patented, from what I gather so far patents deal with what makes LMDS economical.

Good Post, with lots of questions. May I suggest you modify it slightly and email to Bernard Bossard.

I wrote techstocks.com from my research on Amati and their technology. Ten months later I needed to write Message 2274306

I wrote to an Amati Engineer to get some background.

Amati recently purchased by TXN.

Just a suggestion.

Keep up the good work.

Bernard, my understanding is that CVUS is nearly ready to offer two-way internet/broadband data services. I don't have a clue where they stand on video-on-demand - may call and see if I can find out anything. Hovnanian doesn't strike me as a guy who will let many opportunities slip by.

Your posts are excellent, keep them coming.

Enjoy the day.
