I bet the same 51% have no problem with Trump operatives promising to the Russians that when Dump gets elected they'll remove the current sanctions... I bet they also don't have any problem with Trump collaborating with Putin/Russians in interfering with the election either.

I've seen plenty of similar stats about the supporters of all sorts of different politicians, both recent and going back a few decades (and probably back to the beginnings of politics but its not like they had the same sort of polling and news reporting back then).

Basically people often say stupid things to pollsters. Some people are stupid, others are foolish (not the same thing), others don't think much when they respond to the poll, others are highly partisan and just support their side (and that applies to both sides), others (again on both sides) care more about their imagined results then the process.

Also pollsters will at time ask leading questions to try to create "gotcha" polls to point out the other side as stupid.

>> My point is how stupid 51% of Trump supporters are.

The reality is that no matter how successful Trump's agenda is -- good, bad, terrible, great -- it just doesn't matter in your eyes because you don't agree with him politically. And even if you did, you would still think the worst because he was not your choice.

In marketing, when a person decides to make a purchase, the transition to a state of buyer remorse is a high bar. People do not want to admit they made a mistake even when it becomes apparent that they did. Some people will never make that transition. When it comes to politics, you are one. Trump could save the Pope from drowning and you'd still say he's an asshole. That is your failing, not his.
