Clearly it was a quid pro quo arrangement. Putin would mount a campaign on social media and elsewhere in America - promoting Trump and smearing Hillary in exchange/hope of getting the sanctions removed.

I'm not convinced "Tyranny of the Majority" is any better than dictatorship. While I don't want to see dictatorship in America, it is possible we need some years of a stronger political figure to straighten out some of the problems we've accumulated over the years. Unfortunately, you're not going to find the intellect of Alan Turing in the mind of a political leader.

We know that most people are not intellectual giants or accomplished at important things (see: Barack Obama). I do not find all liberals to be idiots but there are definite intellectual considerations that make many liberals unsuitable for running a country. Trump may be the right person for this time in America, in spite of his gruff behavior and strange mannerism.
