I can live and let live just fine. It is the Christians that demand people believe and live their way. Who do you think is behind outlawing abortions? Who do you think is behind gay bashing, defeating prop 8 in California, and many religious institutions are blatantly racist. Who do you think is behind restricting contraceptives. What do you think the Christians did for the last 2000 years to people who didn't believe their way. It was called heresy if you did not believe what the church told you to believe, you were called a heretic and heretics were routinely tortured, put on the rack, drawn and quartered and burned at the stake. For most of the last 2000 years it was very dangerous to not go along with the Christians, because they would kill you. Who do you think was burning the witches? And let me tell you just how ugly it was when the church tortured people for heresy. They put people on the rack, stretched them until there bones pulled apart. If they didn't confess to being a heretic, they spared the person's family. But the person still died, but they figured that was okay because they just went to heaven. They didn't just burn people at the stake either, sometimes they would put them in sacks and throw them in a cold river. They had 1 million different tortures for heresy and it was common for the church to torture people for hundreds and hundreds of years. That is what ignorance does. Look what they did to Galileo and Copernicus and Bruno? The Christians more than anyone want to rule people's lives according to their doctrine. No live and let live for them. The churches control of people was pervasive until just a few decades ago. Show me the trouble in the world the atheists have caused over the course of history. They are the real live and let live people. And there is yet another example of liberal intolerance. "We liberals, we choose our intolerances carefully, though." Of course, you contrast your views with the most extreme of the extreme religious fanatics, leaving no room for individualism and a hostility toward those who prefer to teach their children certain values with which you disagree. No one says your kids have to be raised as Baptists or Catholics. Why the hell can't you live and let live?
