There is an even easier one. Republicans don't believe you ought to give up the right to own guns, or gun caches, just because lots of people die from these weapons, or are wounded by them, or the guns are stolen and used in crimes...

And you don't give up the right to peacefully protest just because sometimes assholes unaffiliated with your movement break a few windows. I'm not sure why the republican love affair with guns is so much stronger than its love of free speech, or free assembly, or freedom of the press, or the emoluments clause...
