Getting a home loan is similar to buying stocks on margin, and probably more risky. At least on margin you don't NEED to pay back the loan, just cover the interest. Margin rates can often be lower than home mortgage rates. And the investment you buy with the margin money can (hopefully) generate cash. For most of us homes consume cash, and lots of it.
