Call the firm and ask what stocks they make markets in....you also need to know what stocks (probably all) that they act as principal in since they can make the market in the stock but not simply register as market makers...ie...you call to sell 1000 xyz...at the same time someone else buys 3000 xyz at market ...the firm takes your stock in at the bid and sells 1000 to the other person at the offer, still making the spread (spread=difference between bid/ask). They didn't do it via. nasdaq snet or act,etc...they arent a market maker but they still acted as principal. So even though your online firm might not be big enough or have the capital to make markets, they might act as principal or route the order to a market maker/principal...same difference...same chance for a poor execution. We don't make markets...we dont act as principa, for those who don't know who we are. regards, steve@yamner.com
