Year 1986. My wife's brother has just enrolled in NJIT. We help with the transportation and get him moved into his dorm. It was a blazingly hot, late summer day. I ask him if there's a liquor store nearby so I can grab a six. There's one just a couple blocks away, he says. I go...have to park a quarter block away. Get the six, head out of the store and across the small and completely full parking lot--I was the only customer in the lousy store--and down the side walk. Twenty feet from the car two gentlemen relieve me of both my burdensome six pack and my apparantly useless wallet which was merely taking up idle space in my pocket. Looking back I always wondered why they were so generous and left me retain ownership in that car along with its monthly payments.

Wasted three hours with the police. They never did recover my six pack.

Not been to Newark since.
